Chapter 1453 - Shocked 1
1453 Shocked 1
Qi Feng’s expression was very apathetic as if this news had lost its magic to stir the waves in his heart. He waved his hand without even opening his eyes and spoke in a deep voice, “You figure that out yourself. No matter what, the shareholders’ meeting must be convened as soon as possible.”
“Yes, First Master! In fact, we don’t have to be so pessimistic, it’ll be okay.” Staring at Qi Feng’s long face, Morrison could not help but suggest.
“Pessimistic? Me? I won’t lose to anybody else, except myself.” Qi Feng smirked while asserting. Only then did he slowly open his eyes, and sheer cold determination filled his eyes in an instant. “I’ve been looking forward to having a real duel with Mu Yuchen, but he’s a cunning one, so cunning that he had been able to avoid each of the challenges I’ve posted. And he actually managed to promote Qi Lei up the line in order to limit my movements. He’s quite an unfathomable one.”
“Mu Yuchen is a typical outstanding representative of the business world. It won’t do us any good if we’ve provoked him. However, we’ve had the tiger by its tail. I’m afraid that...”
“Is that so?” Morrison had not finished his sentence when Qi Feng had indifferently cut him off. Morrison raised his head and gazed at him, but Qi Feng did not continue his sentence. He thought about it and held himself back from asking more .
“Off you go. I want to be alone.” Qi Feng did not seem to want to continue the conversation anymore and closed his eyes once again...
“First Master, actually we...”
“No more actually’s. I only value the results now. The process is no longer important to me. Delaying the shareholders’ meeting any later will only make it more detrimental to us. It’ll only cause those shareholders who originally believed and supported us to lose their confidence. By that time, even if I want to move up the line again, it will be difficult to win back their support,” Qi Feng claimed grimly.
Morrison could understand the meaning behind Qi Feng’s words. Doris’s death, Gu Qiwu’s apathy, and Qi Qiming’s change in attitude...all these had made them more and more passive. However, it seemed that they had no way to change the tide now. They could only sit aside and watch things happen.
“First Master, we’ve underestimated Mu Yuchen. I feel like he’s the one manipulating the chess piece, and Second Master is only one of his pawns. The difference is that the manipulator has developed emotions for his chess piece,” Morrison commented after thinking about it for a while.
“Emotions have been developed, huh?” Qi Feng replied faintly.
“Mu Yuchen and the Second Master are like brothers now. Mu Yuchen invited Second Master personally to attend his son’s birthday banquet. The party was very important to the Mus, and all the invitees are prestigious individuals who are really close to the Mus. From that banquet alone, it’s obvious that the Mus have a profound background. So, it’s clear that...”
“I know about everything that you’ve said. It’s okay. You don’t have to go on.”
“Yes, First Master, then I shall...” Morrison saw Qi Feng’s slightly creased brows and stopped the conversation.
“Then, I shall leave now.” He left the office after that.
...
In fact, Morrison was not sure how he felt now. While he was quite a strategic person in many aspects, when it came to making the final call, he was far from possessing the determination that Qi Feng owned. Take the current incident as an example. When things had reached its present situation, he may not have Qi Feng’s calmness, but he might possess a similar level of boldness!
So, as soon as he walked out of Qi Feng’s office, Morrison’s expression became slightly stern. He thought about it for a bit and seemed to have made a decision. Looking down, he stretched out his hand and took out the cellphone from his pocket. Then, he dialed a number.
“Hello?” A hoarse voice was heard coming from the other end of the phone call. It seemed to be a little ill given how the person was coughing.
“It’s me. Just go according to what I said. I’ll let the young mistress know when it’s done, thus don’t worry. However, this will expose yourself, so you’d better think about it,” Morrison spoke in a serious voice.
“That’s none of your business, and I hope you pay more attention to Ms. Doris’s matters. Also, if I’m not spared, I hope you can send Ms. Doris and me back to England. We like it better there. And Mr. Alex...Please tell Mr. Alex that Ms. Doris is very dependent on him, and she trusts him too, but...please apologize to him on her behalf. And tell Ms. Shasha, that Ms. Doris loves her a lot. She hopes that Qi Feng and her can be well in their life. Mu Yuchen and Xi Xiaye will pay for what they’ve done. Ms. Doris really wished that she can reconcile with First Master Qi Feng...” After saying this, the recipient hung up the phone without waiting for Morrison’s response.
Morrison paused for a second, then stared vacantly at the screen of his cellphone that had just darkened. He then fell into a trance and his head suddenly went blank.
When he chose to do so, would he be right? Or was he wrong?
If he did not do so, everything that they had sacrificed before this would be in vain. If that was the case, it was unacceptable. It was a make or break situation. Qi Feng might even think so himself too.
...
In the meantime, Qi Qiming’s car was cruising smoothly on the freeway leading to the exhibition center.
Secretary Wang Chun, who was seated in front of him, saw that he was in a good mood, so he asked in a deep voice, “President Qi, we’ll reach in about ten minutes if the traffic is smooth. Should we give Yang Sheng a call first?”
“No need, just go ahead,” Qi Qiming said faintly. He raised his gaze and turned his head to glance out of the car window.
“Okay, President Qi.”
“Go faster. We’re going to be late.” Qi Qiming urged.
“Yes, President Qi, I will...Argh!” The driver only got to respond with a few words before he immediately exclaimed in horror as he accelerated the car.
Wang Chun raised his head and looked in front subconsciously. The only thing he saw was the huge truck from the opposite lane, which had just lost control, charging towards them.
