Chapter 547: 259: It's Effort I Rely On, The End of Everything
Whew!
Jack exhaled and showed a satisfied smile on his face, “Space is no longer an issue, it’s just the time rune altar that I still don’t fully understand.”
He had made significant progress in his understanding overnight and felt confident that he would learn the secret skill before running out of the three opportunities given to him.
Then he could get down to cultivating and condensing the Summoning Altar.
“Good morning, Brother Callum.”
No sooner had Jack opened the door than he ran into a fox-eared girl hopping along the corridor, followed by the dignified and charming Six-Tailed White Fox, restored to her 3-meter stature.
The girl blinked her large eyes and looked at Jack, who wasn’t wearing glasses this morning, and exclaimed in surprise, “You look so handsome without the sunglasses, Brother Callum.”
Feeling relaxed, Jack smiled slightly, “Even so, I’m not as handsome as your brother, Mr. Gail.”
The girl giggled, “It’s different. My brother looks prettier than a woman, that’s called being handsome. Brother Callum, you have a kind of heroic handsomeness.”
“It’s just a bit scary when you fight,” she added, sticking out her little tongue, looking somewhat adorable.
She was reminded of the sight of Jack yesterday, surrounded by hellish auras and slaughtering countless blood demons with overwhelming Killing Intent. Just thinking about it made her heart palpitate even now.
Too scary.
But as Jack, with hands clasped behind his back, followed the hopping Gwen Gail and White Fox into the dining hall, he was greeted by a disconsolate Damon Lopes.
“Brother Callum, I feel like our destinies just don’t mesh. It seems I’m born to be overshadowed by you,” lamented Damon.
“Er… why would you say that?” Jack was a bit perplexed.
Mathilda Ward, who was eating breakfast across the table, couldn’t help but laugh out loud and explained, “Damon has been online since last night and then realized that most of the discussion topics are related to you.”
“Many people have even given you some titles, like ‘God Slayer’ and ‘Blood Demon of the Hell’.”
Okay, so that was the reason.
Jack shook his head, “You can’t blame me for that. The Akunus Avatar merged with the Blood River Domain was too strong; you couldn’t withstand it, and I didn’t actually want to steal your spotlight.”
Damon looked frustrated, “I know it’s not your fault, that’s why I’m saying we might be incompatible.”
“I thought that coming out of the Northern Battlefield this time, as the Daoist Master, I could make a name for myself by beheading the heads of Evil God followers with my Thunder Sword and shake the world.”
“But starting from this mission, I ended up contributing nothing, making me, an Innate Awakened One, feel like I completely lack presence or sense of achievement.”
Damon’s words kept Mathilda Ward and Gwen Gail laughing uncontrollably.
With the dark clouds dispersed, everyone’s mood was quite relaxed.
Then came the busyness, for Mathilda Ward’s last tour stop was tonight at 7 pm.
As twilight deepened, this city, having weathered storms, became noisy with life, many flocking towards the Cadet Sports Center.
These included ‘local’ people from Mason and Gunardo, as well as ‘elites’ from other countries.
At this stage, anyone who could fly in on an international flight was extraordinary, initially coming to see Mathilda Ward’s concert, only to witness the phenomenon of a king-level figure’s arrival.
Meanwhile, most of the Television Stations around the world were live broadcasting the event; many were sitting in front of the TV or with mobile phones in hand, computers on, paying close attention.
There was no helping it; too many significant events had happened recently due to Mathilda Ward’s ‘concert.’
Attacks by the Evil God Sect, missile bombings, the battle against a god, the fall of the genius named Clyde, and the confrontation between the king and the True Body of the Evil God.
Each event was sensational enough on its own, let alone the fact that they all revolved around the star Mathilda Ward.
“Hello everyone, I’m Coco, and behind me is the backstage area of the concert.”
“Please follow our camera lens as we go see what Mathilda Ward is up to before the concert starts, and what sets her apart from ordinary people like us.”
“Look quick, that’s Mathilda Ward’s personal bodyguard, Darren Callum. Let’s go and interview him first.”
Saying this, the attractive and eloquent host approached Jack, a bit nervous as she said,
“Mr. Callum, it’s said that you’re only eighteen years old, but you’ve already reached the Late Sixth Heavenly Stage, surpassing many of the older generations of cultivators.”
“Besides, your power is formidable, with records of slaying an Evil God Clone of the Eighth Layer Heaven.”
“Could you share how you’ve achieved this? For example, how can one have battle strength far beyond their realm, just like you?”
Amidst the host’s nervous anticipation, Jack, wearing sunglasses, answered indifferently, “My achievements today stem from my diligent cultivation.”
“The reason my combat power is so formidable is that I’ve cultivated various Cultivation Methods to the pinnacle, surpassing my predecessors and reaching a transcendent level of mastery.”
“And when you bring any one thing to its pinnacle, you become very powerful, like me right now.”
With that, Jack said cooly, “That’s all I have to say.”
“Th-thank you, Mr. Callum, for your cooperation,” the female host was a bit excited.
She hadn’t expected Darren Callum to seriously answer her questions since past attempts to interview him had resulted in being straight-up dismissed.
Turning back, somewhat thrilled, she spoke to the camera, “Did everyone hear that? Mr. Callum has just shared with us the reason for his immense strength.”
“Persistent cultivation, unwavering effort, and masterfully refining either Cultivation Methods or Combat Techniques to their limit can make one as powerful as him.”
