Chapter 66 - 66: 066, Refined Scum
Lishui Bay Villa.
On the first floor living room, Mo Weiyi picked up her mobile phone and glanced at the time.
Her father had just called Xiao Yebai in for a talk, and it had already been an hour. Had they not finished yet?
She had no choice but to put down her phone and pick up the half-read detective novel. She’d only turned two pages when the door to the study was abruptly opened.
Mo Weiyi’s eyes brightened, and she quickly got up. “Xiaobai…”
The first to emerge was Mo Yaoxiong.
In his early forties, his square face was strained and his nasolabial lines deep and stern. His current silence made him seem particularly severe.
“Dad.” Mo Weiyi halted her steps and obediently greeted him.
Mo Yaoxiong looked at her. His voice was low and contained traces of anger, “Listen to Yebai from now on. If you dare to cause any more trouble, you’re moving back into the old Mo Family house!”
“I know, Dad.” Mo Weiyi pouted coquettishly, “You were abroad for so long, and you didn’t bring me any gifts when you came back, yet all you do is scold me!”
Mo Yaoxiong frowned, looking at his adorable, innocent daughter, unable to say anything.
“Okay, Dad, I’m going to go back in then, okay?” Mo Weiyi said, waving cheerfully at him.
Mo Yaoxiong shook his head and swiftly left.
Mo Weiyi immediately ran to open the study door. “Xiaobai!”
An acrid smell of smoke hit her.
The study only had one dim light on. Xiao Yebai sat on the sofa in the soft glow, his head lowered, a cigarette between his slender, straight fingers.
“Xiaobai, what did Dad talk to you about?”
Mo Weiyi walked over and realized that the carpet had water stains, tea leaves, and pieces of a broken teacup.
She frowned, turning to Xiao Yebai, “Xiaobai, are you hurt?”
She raised the man’s face.
Just as she thought, his handsome face was dripping blood. One spot on his forehead was especially terrifying, blood beads were still oozing out from the wound.
“Did Dad do this?” Mo Weiyi was shocked and distressed, her eyes welled up with tears, she said angrily, “I’m going to find him!”
Just as she started to rise, her wrist was held, Xiao Yebai’s voice raspy, “It’s alright.”
“You’re hurt like this, and you’re saying it’s alright?” Mo Weiyi was both angry and confused, “Why would he hit you with a teacup? What on earth happened?”
She frowned delicately, not understanding.
Ever since Xiaobai had come to the Mo family, her father had always been nice to him. It was no exaggeration to say that he treated Xiaobai like his own son. Why had he unexpectedly become so angry today…
She suddenly thought back to what Mo Yaoxiong had said before he left.
“Was it because of the matter from last time, when I asked you to have the police investigate Gui Mansion? But… it’s been so long since then, and that case has been closed, why is Dad suddenly…”
“Go get the first aid kit.” Xiao Yebai interrupted her, and then added, “It’s in the second drawer under the coffee table.”
“…Okay.”
Mo Weiyi soon came back with the first aid kit.
She squatted beside him, carefully cleaning and bandaging his wound.
From start to finish, Xiao Yebai sat there, still as a statue.
Finally, the wound was dealt with.
Mo Weiyi looked at the handsome, aloof man in front of her and suddenly spoke adorably, “Whose boyfriend is this? So stylish! Even when injured, he looks so handsome!”
Xiao Yebai flicked his gaze onto her, his black eyes unblinkingly staring back at her.
Her pale face glowed pink with adorableness, a sweet smile on her lips, honey colored curls falling from her shoulders, her beautiful eyes like a cat’s, displaying unabashed, infatuated affection for him.
She was utterly innocent and naive.
Mo Weiyi often thought: Her Xiaobai was a perfect example of a classy gentleman turned rogue.
He always seemed indifferent, as if he didn’t really care about anything. But since they got married, she discovered a different side to Xiaobai.
Sometimes he was assertive, sometimes overbearing, and sometimes…even a little brutal.
And she, she just loved this paradoxical Xiaobai.
The room was silent.
In the light filtering in, Mo Weiyi was sound asleep.
Her face was serene, even in sleep, her lips curved in a slight smile, like a little princess oblivious to the harshness of the world.
Haha.
Sometimes, the destinies of people are really quite unfair.
A shadow of a smile traced across his thin lips. The man’s smile was detached, his eyes full of cold mockery..
