Building a Gaming Empire From Scratch

Chapter 65 - 65: Lining Up to Resign

At the Human Resources Department office, a female staff member who was sorting through resumes at her desk near the door heard a knock.

Without giving it much thought, she got up to open the door.

Then she saw a dense crowd of people standing outside, and she couldn’t help but be taken aback.

She instinctively started wondering: Was there a problem with attendance? Or did an entire department collectively run into an issue?

After all, so many people coming together couldn’t possibly be due to a lack of staff wanting to submit recruitment requests.

Whenever a department or group was short-staffed, it was enough for a leader to come and explain the situation, there was no need for so many people!

“What can I help you with?”

Fred, who was leading the group, politely smiled and said to her, ‘We’re looking for your supervisor, as we want to resign.”

“Huh?” The female staff member was dumbfounded.

She had never thought of this possibility. Why would so many people resign together if it wasn’t for a company layoff?

Moreover, this was NetDragon! The leading company in the gaming industry. Although it had recently faced some challenges in public opinion, the leader was still the leader, and it was a place where countless people wanted to join!

What was going on today? Why did so many people suddenly decide to leave?

However, she didn’t pry any further, as she was well aware that a matter of this scale was not her place to handle.

Welcoming the group inside and asking them to wait, she then hurried to her supervisor’s office.

More than twenty people suddenly squeezed into the office, immediately catching the attention of all the employees.

Soon, the HR Supervisor, Hillary, came out with quick steps. But when she saw Fred among the crowd, she immediately realized: big trouble was brewing!

She slowed her pace, turned to the female staff member who had followed her out, and whispered, “Go notify Henry and the boss that the core members of the Blaze Production Team want to resign, including all four team leaders.

Hurry!”

She had already made up her mind to stall them with small talk since it was impossible to process their resignation requests directly.

Wasn’t she aware of the current state of the company? The lower-ranking employees might not be aware, but how could she not?

They had to appease the players with the massive loss of offering free DLC, and by having everyone work overtime and promising to update the DLC within two months.

If the core members of the Blaze Production Team were to suddenly resign at this point, the situation would become far worse!

Without these core production members, who would lead the other production teams to complete the DLC?

Were they supposed to rely on those who hadn’t resigned to take the lead?

The highly specialized nature of their work dictated that each person was only familiar with their specific tasks, while only the team leaders had the capacity to coordinate the entire module’s production.

But now, four of the five team leaders wanted to leave!

The remaining one was a beautician. How could they be expected to take charge of creating the DLC? Were they supposed to use their head?! Or should they start from scratch with the development plan and documents?

It was not impossible, but assembling a leadership group and picking up the pieces to complete and launch the project successfully within two months was just wishful thinking!

With a forced smile on her face, Hillary felt bitter inside and continued babbling along, not even knowing what she was saying herself.

On the other hand, the female employee from the human resources department had finally run to Henry’s office.

However, before she could speak, the recently disgruntled and short-tempered Henry berated her, “Watch your image in the company, why are you running like that? You look so flustered and unprofessional!”

Hearing Henry’s accusation, the female staff member felt wronged, thinking she had rushed over just to inform him.

Given Henry’s tarnished reputation in office gossip groups, where did he even find the face to put on airs?

But since he had said that.

The staff member’s own temper flared up. She stopped in her tracks, regained her composure and adjusted her sleeves, collar, and even took a small mirror from her pocket to fix her disheveled hair.

As she saw Henry’s beard curling up in anger, ready to scold her loudly, she finally spoke, “Hillary asked me to notify you that the core members of your

Blaze Production Team want to resign.”

She very deliberately emphasized the words “your team”.

“Who? Who dares to make trouble for me at this time!” Henry was furious, feeling as though the whole world was against him. “Is it Fred?! I knew it! I knew ever since I became the Chief Planner that he has always been resentful!”

“It seems so.” The female employee recalled that the man leading the group was wearing a name badge, which read “Fred”.

Henry was even angrier, “I knew it! He’s narrow-minded and has no sense of the bigger picture! His work isn’t up to par, and he gets criticized by players. The company has so many people working overtime to clean up his mess, and now he wants to just walk away? In his dreams!”

However, the female staff member on the opposite side didn’t take his words seriously, and even looked somewhat disdainful. Did he really think ordinary employees didn’t know anything?

His vile intentions had spread throughout the company gossip groups the day after Randall resigned! Now at this point in time, how could he still act so self-righteous and try to shift the blame? Who was he fooling?

Seeing the woman staring at him with mockery in her eyes, Henry’s anger continued to rise as he marched towards the HR Department, “Lead the way!

Without teaching him a lesson, he might really think he’s something! He needs to know that the company has plenty of talent. We won’t miss him even if he’s gone – the world will still turn without him!”

“You can go by yourself, I still have to inform the boss.”

“Inform the boss? I’m his superior, I can handle it.” Henry said discontentedly.

“You can’t handle it.” The female employee didn’t give him any face.

“Why can’t I handle it? I’m the company’s Chief Planner and also the Chief Planner of the Blaze Production Team. He’s my direct subordinate, why wouldn’t I be able to handle it?!”

“Because it’s not just Fred resigning, but also the four team leaders of the Blaze

Production Team resigning together.”

“Wh… What?” Henry’s anger dissipated instantly, “Four?”

There were only five team leaders in the Blaze Production Team!

“Yes, four team leaders and eighteen ordinary employees submitting their collective resignation.” After saying this, she even winked at Henry, “That’s a total of twenty-two people, all your direct subordinates, huh!”

Once again, she emphasized the words “direct subordinates” while looking at Henry provocatively.

I’m mocking you, so what? I’m not under your command, so can you even manage our HR Department?

Don’t expect to receive the best benefits during holidays and festivals! And as for your entire department, be prepared for the strictest attendance checks in the entire company! Let’s just wait and see!

However, Henry was no longer in the mood to bicker, as he felt his hands and feet go cold and a chill run through his heart.

The previously domineering arrogance had long vanished, and he no longer even considered going to the HR Department to confront Fred.

He directly turned and headed towards the General Manager’s office, “I’ll go inform the boss.”

He truly couldn’t handle this matter!
