Beast Taming: I Can Evolve Indefinitely

Chapter 137 - 136: Tower of Competition

As everyone knows, once a pet beast entered the Legendary Realm, it was eligible to master domain skills.

Within the scope of the domain, the pet beast could transform the surrounding environment into one most suited for its own combat according to its will.

However, not everyone could master domain skills as they required high levels of aptitude and skills from the pet beast.

Among all the skills, aura skills were the closest to domain skills.

“And it’s a Deadly Poison Aura, truly custom-made for this glutton.”

Bai Qi gave a pat to Gamma in his arms, unable to conceal the smile on his face.

“If we max out the resistance and then get a Thorns Aura, wouldn’t we just lie down and let others beat us?”

Bai Qi wiped the saliva off the corner of his mouth and turned to Nicholas who was engrossed in watching TV, “Nicholas, can you help out when free?” Nicholas didn’t turn his head and directly drew a ‘Do not disturb’ sign in front of Bai Qi using Jade Power.

Seeing Nicholas’s behaviour, Bai Qi pretended to be disappointed and said, “Oh no, I suddenly remember a very popular show recently, seems like I’ll have to go watch it myself…”

Before he finished his sentence, Nicholas instantly appeared in front of Bai Qi, eagerly asking, “What show, what show? I want to watch!”

“Ahem, it’s still updating, you’ll have to go out to watch.”

Bai Qi said, “Perfect timing, you can help me end test Gamma’s new skill.”

“Newskill?”

Nicholas seemed uninterested but, to watch the new show mentioned by Bai Qi, he had to obey.

“Gamma, use Deadly Poison Aura!”

Bai Qi tossed Gamma into Nicholas’s hands, awakening it directly through the bond.

Cluck Cluck?

(Time to eat?)

Gamma was a bit groggy and his first thought upon waking up was to eat. He then received Bai Qi’s command and regardless of his surroundings, released his Deadly Poison Aura.

In an instant, a clearly visible green aura radiated from Gamma and spread around. Bai Qi immediately retreated until he was ten meters away and the aura finally stopped.

“The effective range is only ten meters? That’s a bit small.”

Bai Qi roughly estimated the range and was a bit disappointed. This distance and this obvious aura, the most it could do was fight against some simple- minded opponents. Against someone with slightly longer range of attack, it would be useless.

But Gamma was just a low-level Elite, First Stage Second Level, so there was much room for growth.

Just wondered about the effect.

“Nicholas, do you feel anything?”

Nicholas paused for a moment and said, “Mmm… the parts of me covered by it felt invaded by toxin, but the toxicity is weak, and it could only stay on my scales.”

“Do you need me to lower my defenses?”

“No need.”

Upon hearing this, Bai Qi twitched his eyebrows and immediately declined.

He had been stupid this time, thinking of letting a Legendary Green Dragon experience the Deadly Poison Aura. Even if Nicholas lowered his defenses, Gamma probably couldn’t hurt him.

“Let’s try it during training.”

Bai Qi sighed and recalled Gamma back to the Beast Control Space and walked out of the Green Dragon’s Secret Realm.

“It’s already noon time, no wonder I am hungry.”

Looking at the Songyue Building that was bustling with customers despite the existence of the Green Dragon’s Secret Realm, Bai Qi’s appetite suddenly soared.

He had been eating grass for these past few days, now smelling the delicious scents from Songyue Building, Bai Qi couldn’t resist feeling hungry.

“Let’s eat first, then go for training.”

Burp…

With a satisfied face, Bai Qi let out a full burp and strolled slowly towards the dormitory.

“No wonder Sister Zhou highly recommends it, the food in Songyue Building is indeed remarkable. It’s a pity that the cooking methods can’t be disclosed, otherwise, I could cook for myself when out in the wild.”

Just as Bai Qi was about to enter the dormitory, he saw Bai Qiucha and Gu Shan coming from the direction of the assembly hall.

“Cha, Gu Shan, have you finished your training this morning?”

“Bai Qi, what are you doing here?”

Bai Qiucha appeared puzzled, saying, “Shouldn’t you be accompanying that Legendary Giant Dragon now?”

Bai Qi said, “It’s fine, Nicholas… ahem, Lord Nicholas isn’t demanding, so I came back.”

“Were you just finished training?”

Bai Qiucha shook her head, unconsciously glancing at the three Rune Marks on the back of Bai Qi’s left hand and said, “Because of the Green Dragon’s Secret Realm, Brother Luo assigned us some open-ended tasks, so there’s no specific training.”

“However, we just finished a fight with Sister Zhou and we’re going to rest a bit before we continue in the afternoon.”

Bai Qi looked at them somewhat astonished, was this the same boy who would change color at the mention of Zhou Yan? he had actually taken the initiative to fight Zhou Yan?

What on earth happened during these few days when he was not around?!

Seeing the puzzled look on Bai Qi’s face, Bai Qiucha and Gu Shan looked at each other and sighed quietly.

He really had no idea how much pressure he had put them under…

“But it’s perfect timing, I’ll join you guys this afternoon, take me along.”

Bai Qi was worrying about where to test the effect of Gamma’s Deadly Poison Aura, now with Bai Qiucha and others as free sparring partners, it was a no brainer not to take advantage.

Upon hearing this, Bai Qiucha hesitated and asked, “You just came out from the Secret Realm, don’t you need rest?”

The secret realm where the legendary giant dragon lived was undoubtedly far more dangerous than ordinary realms, and Bai Qi must have expended quite a lot to have survived there for so long.

“No need, I’ve practically grown moldy in there, so this is a good chance to move around.”

These past few days were mostly spent in the dragon’s cave, either eating grass or sleeping, so he was indeed getting bored.

Bai Qiucha and Gu Shan looked at each other, uncertain of what to make of Bai Qi anymore.

“Well, we’ll rest for a bit then, and set off in an hour.”

Tower of Competition.

Looking at the bustling crowd around him, Bai Qi was slightly surprised.

“The Tower of Competition is the only one in the Six Towers open to all members of the Association, so there are far more people here than in the other towers.”

Bai Qiucha looked around and quickly spotted Zhou Yan, who had been waiting there for a while. She led Bai Qi and Gu Shan over to her.

“Sister Zhou.”

Zhou Yan turned and likewise seemed a bit surprised when she saw Bai Qi. “Bai Qi, don’t you need to rest?”

Bai Qi shrugged. “No need.”

“I didn’t realize that you have such a strong constitution, Bai Qi. I thought you’d be sleeping for days after coming out of the secret realm.”

Corners of Bai Qi’s eye twitched. Where had they gotten the impression that he was weak?

“But it’s just as well, there’s someone who wants to practice with you.”

A teasing smile danced on Zhou Yan’s face as she waved to someone behind Bai Qi.

Turning around, Bai Qi saw Xiao Yuan and Li Mu heading their way.

Xiao Yuan also looked somewhat taken aback upon seeing Bai Qi, then he smiled and said, “Bai Qi, congratulations on becoming a Third Stage beast master.”

“Thank you.”

Bai Qi nodded but said nothing further.

He had only met Xiao Yuan twice and generally had a good impression of him. But having an inherent dislike for shifty eyes, he had no intention to become friends.

It seemed Xiao Yuan didn’t register Bai Qi’s intentional evasion. “Bai Qi, this is your first time at the Tower of Competition, right?”

“Yes, since I don’t have much to do, I thought I’d practice battling with Bai Qiucha and the rest.”

“Perfect, we two are also idling around, so we decided to come for some practice.”

Xiao Yuan then smiled, “I’ve never got a chance to battle with you. Now that we met, would you like to spar?”

This suggestion from Xiao Yuan took Li Mu, who was eager to fight, by surprise.

“Xiao Yuan, he is my opponent. Why…”

Xiao Yuan shrugged. “Didn’t you plan to defeat Bai Qi in runes? Giving up halfway isn’t your style.”

Unable to retort and remembering his performance in the Green Dragon Secret Realm, Li Mu fell silent.

Yes, as long as he hadn’t surpassed Bai Qi in runes, even if he won a fight, what difference would it make?

After convincing Li Mu, Xiao Yuan turned to Bai Qi again. “Don’t worry, there is a balance mechanism inside the Tower of Competition which suppresses both parties to the same level, preventing overpowering.”

“How about it? Will you consider my offer?”

Bai Qi pondered for a moment, observing Xiao Yuan’s determination to spar, and finally agreed.

He wasn’t clear why Xiao Yuan was so interested in him, but it didn’t matter who he fought with. This would also give him a chance to gauge the abilities of the other top fighters.

“Bai Qi, do you have any food with you?”

Seeing Bai Qi accept the challenge, Zhou Yan shot him a look of sympathy.

“Yes, why?”

Zhou Yan patted his shoulder, “Good, otherwise I’d worry you’d miss dinner.”

With that, she didn’t further explain and led Bai Qiucha and the others directly to the viewing gallery.

“With that suspect smirk, could there be a trick?”

Bai Qi cast a suspicious look at Xiao Yuan, but Xiao Yuan maintained an innocuous smile, showing no signs of deceit.

Well, let’s just cross that bridge when we come to it.

Under Xiao Yuan’s guidance, Bai Qi registered at the front gate and arrived in front of a battle room.

A female receptionist took them to a huge balance, “Could you both please summon the beasts participating in the fight? We will adjust the balance proportion based on their combined conditions.”

Such a rule, how accommodating!

Bai Qi looked at Xiao Yuan, who was obviously waiting for him to summon first. He nodded and summoned Gamma.

Chomp, chomp…

(It’s so tasty…)

Bai Qi was slightly helpless as he watched Gamma continue eating even while sleeping.

After all said and done, Alpha was the most reliable. He didn’t need food or sleep, and rarely spoke. The perfect low-maintenance companion.

“A slime creature? That’s your third beast?”

Xiao Yuan glanced at the third rune on the back of Bai Qi’s hand, looking thoughtful but never underestimating. Instead, he seemed more focused.

How could someone, who trained the most ordinary skeleton soldier and an Arctic Ice Wolf so powerfully, choose a simple slime creature? There must be something unusual!
