Chapter 236 - 236: 117: Landslide, The First Cold Pool

Chapter 236 - 236: 117: Landslide, The First Cold Pool

It seemed Ye Qingzi caught her brother’s subtle hint and immediately glared at the outspoken lad.

Obviously understanding its master’s intent, the Purple Robe Dream Beast’s horn started to flicker with a purple lightning. It took form of a long snake and abruptly shot towards Starfield Devil Steed!

Chu Xing and Chu Ning were standing next to Ye Wansheng. The power of that attack was not small; the strong thunderous force detonated between them, blasting a significant charred pit, and left the two of them in cold sweats.

Seemingly having anticipated his sister’s outburst, Ye Wansheng had already ridden the Starfield Devil Steed and quickly ran forward when the lightning came crashing down.

There were many routes to the Sin-Origin Mountain range. Chu Xing and Chu Ning had already chosen their route and not many people traveled it. As the five of them entered the Sin-Origin Mountain Range, surrounded by those brown and bald mountain ranges, they gradually lost sight of other Soul Pet Masters’ teams.

“There are mountains connecting each other here. According to this road, we will encounter about thirteen cold pools. The first cold pool is located at waist ridge of the mountain ahead, but the locals say that there are some Soul Pet groups living there because they gather around the cold pools.” Chu Xing took out a map, watching the mountain range not far away as he spoke.

“Do you know what type of Soul Pet groups they are?” Chu Mu asked.

If they knew what kind of Soul Pets they were, they could also summon some of their Soul Pets that can counter them, making the fight much easier.

“The person said that they are a group of Shadow Hair Monsters, with an average rank of about the fifth. The number is less than forty, so it should be not difficult for us to deal with them.” Chu Ning said.

Chu Mu nodded – he currently needed his other Soul Pets to quickly upgrade their stage through battle. This was particularly important for Zhan Ye, which still was in the fifth rank third stage. Only by raising its level could its combat advantages become evident.

After climbing over this barren mountain, Chu Mu quickly noticed some giant footprints embedded in those rugged rocks, presumably trampled by some powerful Shadow Hair Monsters.

“The information is quite accurate, indeed a group of Shadow Hair Monsters. I don’t know what these things are doing protecting a cold pool. Could it be that they like to take cold showers?” Ye Wansheng said.

“The Cold Pool is known as the Sin Source Cold Pool because its water carries a dark attribute. These Shadow Hair Monsters are covered with thick resistant fur, which gives them a certain resistance to cold. What they really want is the dark aura emitted by the Sin Source Cold Pool, which can enhance their attributes and help them advance more quickly.” Chu Mu explained.

Ye Wansheng looked at Chu Mu and chuckled, “It seems you know quite a lot. I suppose you’ve traveled a lot, haven’t you?”

Chu Mu shook his head. He had learned what he’d just said from Master Li. Master Li, after centuries of living, had a good understanding of many habits of Soul Pets.

Not far away, the shouting of the Shadow Hair Monsters echoed on the mountain where nothing could obstruct the sound, giving a sense of desolation.

“I’ll go and take a look first.” Chu Mu targeted the front and said to the other four.

After saying this, he rode the Night Thunder Dream Beast to accelerate his

pace, racing towards one of the Sin Source Cold Pools indicated on the route.

After climbing the winding mountain road and turning away a rock wall, a slightly downward slope appeared in front of Chu Mu. The slope had a distance of about 500 meters and was only about 100 meters wide. The sides were mountain cliffs.

“There are only slight over thirty, young master alone can handle them.” Elder Fox commented.

“There’s no need to waste the stamina of Soul Pets. Wait for them to come together.” Chu Mu said.

They would encounter many cold pools on their journey, and almost every cold pool would be home to some Soul Pets. Continuous battles like this would quickly wear out their Soul Pets, making it very dangerous in this barren mountain range.

Soon, at Chu Mu’s signal, the other four approached. Having seen no more powerful Soul Pets in sight, all five decisively summoned their fighting Soul Pets.

To deal with this Beast Soul Pet that only slightly included the Dark Attribute, Chu Mu naturally preferred his Demon Tree Warrior.

The Demon Tree Warrior had already reached the sixth rank of fourth stage. With the defensive ability of the Demon Tree Warrior and the root piercing attack, those Shadow Hair Monsters not at the sixth rank would barely be able to hurt it.

Knowing that these enemies were not strong, Chu Xing and Chu Ning did not let their main pets participate in the battle. Ye Wansheng summoned a robust beast of four stages, obviously wanting to train his lower-ranked Soul Pet.

Like Chu Mu, Ye Qingzi also chose to summon a Wood Element Soul Pet.

The Soul Contract Pattern that appeared in her summoning was of a Sixth Stage Fifth-rank Qingmu Demon.

Chu Xing and Chu He purposely looked at Ye Qingzi’s summoning, curious to know what kind of astonishing soul pet she would call forth. However, as they saw the Warrior-level Qingmu Demon, they moved their gaze away.

Chu Mu also paid attention to Ye Qingzi’s soul pet. Initially, just like Chu Xing and Chu Ning, Chu Mu thought that the Qingmu Demon summoned by Ye

Qingzi seemed to be a far cry from the Purple Robe Dream Beast she mounted.

But after a few more glances, Chu Mu realized that he was almost deceived by this soul pet, which was very similar to the Qingmu Demon.

“Your soul pet should be a Pan Wood Spirit, right?” Chu Mu asked.

Ye Qingzi’s summoned wood element soul pet was actually a Pan Wood Spirit a relatively rare creature in the Plant World. Chu Mu had only come across it in books before, but he had never seen a real Pan Wood Spirit.

Ye Qingzi raised her eyebrows, not expecting Chu Mu to quickly determine that her soul pet was not a Qingmu Demon but a Pan Wood Spirit.

As soon as Chu Mu spoke, Chu Xing and Chu Ning immediately took another look at the Soul Pet which closely resembled the Qingmu Demon on the outside.

Pan Wood Spirit: Plant World – Wood Type – Pan Wood Spirit – Commander Level.

The Pan Wood Spirit is a distinctive soul pet in the Plant World. It has two forms. Prior to the Eighth Stage, the Pan Wood Spirit is a tree shape with long, green tendrils hanging down.

Upon metamorphosing from the Seventh Rank to the Eighth Stage, the Pan Wood Spirit’s green tendrils will condense into a bud-like structure similar to a flower. After a period of cultivation, it sheds its original plant form and cultivates a special life form that is similar to an elf, thereby significantly improving its combat and mobility.

This unique change in soul pet form also occurs in insect-type soul pets, much like the Azure Sky Hidden Dragon. The difference, however, is that the Azure Sky Hidden Dragon can transform into a common soul pet in the face of danger, whereas this metamorphosis of the Pan Wood Spirit is irreversible.

Ye Qingzi’s Seventh-rank First-stage Purple Robe Dream Beast had already surprised Chu Mu. Now her Pan Wood Spirit, which she summoned at the Fifth Rank Sixth Stage level, obviously out-ranked the Purple Robe Dream Beast. This impressive commander-level soul pet made Chu Mu see this woman in a new light.

“Wood Array!” Ye Qingzi verbally commanded her soul pet. She was quick to scatter the Wood Array seeds around the circle of Soul Pet Masters.

Wood Array seeds are a common skill used by wood-type soul pets. When special seeds are scattered on the ground, they will quickly grow into large defensive trees that obstruct attacks, regardless of whether there is soil or not, as soon as a soul pet approaches. The Wood Array can ensure that the Soul Pet Masters who are in commanding positions will not be directly attacked – a very practical skill in group battles.

Ye Wansheng’s soul pet – the mammoth, only had a Fourth Rank Ninth Stage beast. However, it aggressively rushed to the front, toppling the first Shadow Hair Monster that was looking around.

Ye Qingzi saw that Ye Wansheng’s Mammoth had controlled a Shadow Hair Monster. She immediately instructed the Pan Wood Spirit to release its entanglement, completely binding the body of the Shadow Hair Monster.

“Swish!! !!! The long horn of the mammoth suddenly reflected a sharp light flash. The next moment, it directly pierced the body of the Fifth Rank First-stage Shadow Hair Monster. Fresh blood slowly poured from the body of the Shadow Hair Monster.

The Ye Family siblings had already entered the battle. Chu Xing and Chu Ning were not trailing far behind and promptly ordered their soul pets to slaughter the Shadow Hair Monsters.

“Young Master, this woman with pretty legs and the guy who likes to curse seem to have some backgrounds. They both have relatively valuable soul pets, despite their young age,” Master Li said quietly to Chu Mu.

Chu Mu nodded. The prices of the two soul pets that Ye Qingzi had summoned were both over several million. It was obvious that the Purple Robe Dream Beast was no less powerful than his Night Thunder Dream Beast. The Pan Wood Spirit was even more outstanding among the commander-level creatures in the Plant World. It could not be purchased casually for one or two million.

All four had already entered the fight. Chu Mu rode his Night Thunder Dream Beast to a suitable position, then commanded the Demon Tree Warrior to launch a large-scale demonic tree piercing attack.

The Demon Tree warrior, who was at the Fourth Stage Level 6, had an absolute advantage in battling these Shadow Hair Monsters. Each wave of piercing had over sixty demonic tree roots instantly breaking through the thick layer of rock, piercing through the ground from the fissures!

After three consecutive waves of root piercing, Chu Mu’s Demon Tree Warrior directly killed ten Shadow Demons, earning the most kills.

“Fourth Brother, can’t you switch to a lower-staged soul pet? If this goes on, your Demon Tree Warrior will kill them all in no time,” said Chu Ning controlling his Fifth Rank Ninth Stage Star-swallowing Wolf. He was somewhat amused because just as his Star-swallowing Wolf had found an enemy and was about to attack, Chu Mu’s Demon Tree Warrior’s weird roots appeared, instantly killing the Fifth Rank Shadow Hair Monster.

Chu Mu also noticed that these Shadow Hair Monsters were of average quality. After eliminating half of the Shadow Hair Monsters, he immediately summoned War Ye.

War Ye and these Shadow Hair Monsters were not much different in terms of rank. With the advantage of its commander level and strong vitality, Chu Mu was not worried about it having any accidents at all. So, he confidently let it storm directly into the dozen or so Shadow Hair Monsters.
