Chapter 128 - 128: How Much Did He Hear?
Qiao Haidong proclaimed, “Of course, you should pay up. I raised you, you should repay me! Now home requires money, and you refuse to give it, even complaining that your brother costs too much attending an international school, forcing him to a public school!”
“You haven’t raised me for a single day! I was raised by my grandmother!”
Having been thoroughly embarrassed already, Qiao Yin was no longer concerned with how her colleagues viewed her.
She retorted Qiao Haidong without yielding, “You repeatedly claim I’m ruining Jiasen’s life, no need for such exaggeration! Who says attending public middle school ruins one’s life? How many people attend international schools? The majority of people attend public schools, they are just as successful and can lead beautiful lives! If I did want Jiasen to attend a public high school, you would have no right to criticize me!”
“Admitted it! Indeed it was you who forced Jiasen to transfer, you unfilial daughter, how could I have raised such a ruthless daughter! You want to ruin Jiasen, ruin the Qiao family! No wonder Lingche doesn’t want you anymore, no wonder he likes Lan Xiao…”
“Qiao Haidong!”
A cold voice abruptly resonated in the hall, cutting off Qiao Haidong’s speech.
Qiao Yin turned her head to the source immediately, only to see that Lu Lingche was standing at the door, having been there for an unknown duration.
Qiao Yin’s face turned as white as a sheet.
How much did he hear?
Did he hear everything?
Was it not enough that she felt embarrassed in front of her colleagues, must she also be embarrassed in front of Lu Lingche?
Why was life so cruel to her?
Why must it always reveal her most humiliating side in front of Lu Lingche?
The moment Qiao Haidong saw Lu Lingche, he immediately changed his attitude, fawning over him and hurried to meet him: “Oh, Lingche, why didn’t you say you were coming? Please, come in!”
Lu Lingche ignored him, walked past the several figures and looked at Qiao Yin.
She was pale as a ghost, and her eyes were red like a rabbit’s. He couldn’t tell if she was about to cry or if it was from her staying up all night.
There she stood, slim and frail, inexplicably pitiful.
What happened to the gall she displayed when she slapped him at three in the morning?
Why didn’t she slap Qiao Haidong too?
Seeing that Lingche ignored him, Qiao Haidong continued smarming, “Lingche, are you looking for Yin? I knew it, you undoubtedly still love her the most…”
“Boss Qiao.”
Finally diverting his gaze, Lu Lingche spoke with an indifferent tone. “You can leave now.”
That put a stop to everything Qiao Haidong was saying.
He wanted to squeeze in a few more words, but Lingche emitted a cold aura that was suffocating. His words were rude, which made him lose face.
To prevent further embarrassment, he shot Qiao Yin one last resentful look and, grinding his teeth, he took his leave.
He could always come another day!
Madam Lu said Qiao Yin now made good money with her job. She had money!
With Qiao Haidong’s departure, the big hall of the auction house sunk into silence. There was no one who would have thought that Lu Lingche, the man they only saw in newspapers and on TV, was standing right before them.
He was colder and more handsome than he appeared on screen.
His figure was tall and straight, his custom-made suit highlighted his perfect shape.
He was of noble bearing but his coldness made him intimidating.
Lu Lingche disregarded everyone’s gaze as he walked into the hall with his assistant.
Everybody automatically made way for him.
He stopped before Lu Yanxi, speaking indifferently, “Is this how you manage the company? Allowing employees to leisurely watch the spectacle instead of working? If there’s a repeat of people not working to watch the spectacle, fire them all!”
The crowd was startled, and they quickly dispersed, fleeing back to their workspaces to get busy.
For sure this man was handsome, but his heart was too cold. It was horrifying that just watching a spectacle could lead to termination. So terrifying!
Lu Yanxi was frightened, cold sweat drenched from her forehead to her back, stuttering as she talked, “Se-Second Brother, wh-why are you here?”
