Chapter 223: Don’t see him anymore in the future
Qiao Yin laughed, “I knew you would agree. I’ve already started looking at houses. There are two very nice ones. I’ll take you to see them someday!”
Shen Yujun also laughed, “You’re really forcing me to move in with you and never return to the town, aren’t you?”
“What’s wrong with you living with me? You raised me when I was young. Now that you’re older, I should take care of you. Isn’t that great?”
“It’s not that I don’t want to live with you, but I can’t bear to leave the town suddenly. There are so many townsfolk who need me there. Some of the elderly can’t go to the big hospitals. If they have a headache or a fever, I treat them, and they feel better. The children also like coming to see me. If I leave, they might feel uncomfortable.”
“There are many elderly and children in the city too, and not everyone can afford to go to a big hospital. They need you too! Besides, the transportation department is planning to build a road for our town and introduce a new bus route. It will be much easier for them to come to the city for medical treatment in the future!”
Shen Yujun nodded her head, finally agreeing with what she had said.
She leaned against her bed and suddenly asked Qiao Yin, “Have you and that boy from the Lu Family divorced yet?”
Qiao Yin’s voice became weaker, “Not yet.”
“Hurry up and get it sorted out, don’t drag it out anymore.”
“Okay.”
“And don’t see him again in the future, understand?”
“I’ve been trying to avoid meeting him.”
“You’re my child, don’t I know you well? You’re stubborn and soft-hearted, you’ve liked that boy secretly for so long. I’m afraid that once you see him and he’s a bit nice to you, you won’t be able to let him go.”
Qiao Yin gave a bitter smile, “That was the case before, but it won’t be in the future. Things are different this time. He already has a child with someone else. I’m narrow-minded, I can’t tolerate such things.”
Shen Yujun sighed, “I’m to blame too. I thought that if you married into the Lu Family, with Old Madam there to protect you, you wouldn’t be wronged. I thought that someone as cold-hearted as Lu Lingche would have no interest in women and could control himself. I didn’t expect to be mistaken.”
Qiao Yin shook her head quickly, “It has nothing to do with you. I chose to marry him because he’s handsome, distant and cool, which is very attractive. I didn’t expect he would…”
Before getting married, she was aware that Lu Lingche treated Lan Yuyi differently. Madam Lu had hinted several times that Lu Lingche was secretly in love with Lan Yuyi, and Lu Lingche himself had never denied it.
However, she reasoned that even if he liked Lan Yuyi, she was supposed to marry his older brother and there would be no future between them.
She would be by Lu Lingche’s side for a long time, and surely she could warm his cold heart over time.
How naive she was!
How can you warm a heart made of stone?
The conversation was a bit heavy and Shen Yujun didn’t want to make her granddaughter upset. So she changed the subject, “Bring the needles. I’ll have another session of acupuncture tonight. Tomorrow I should be able to get up and walk a few steps.”
Qiao Yin quickly fetched the needles and, under her grandmother’s guidance, performed the acupuncture.
Since her grandmother awoke, she had been adjusting the acupoints for acupuncture based on her own condition every day, ensuring a better and faster recovery.
Qiao Yin also learned a lot in the process.
Now she was studying, day and night, some of the special cases her grandmother had treated before and showed a particular interest in complicated and difficult cases. She wished she could find suitable patients to treat.
After the acupuncture session, Shen Yujun quickly drifted off to sleep.
Qiao Yin gently left her room and went back to her own, where she resumed poring over her grandmother’s patient records.
For the parts she did not understand or had doubts about, she marked them to ask her grandmother the next day.
She was studying even harder than when she was preparing for her college entrance exam. After all, even though the entrance exam was important, it was just a test and didn’t involve anyone’s life.
Studying medicine was different. If she didn’t do well or misunderstood some knowledge, it could seriously affect a patient’s life.
Qiao Yin kept studying till dawn before she went to wash up and sleep.
The next morning she woke up early, prepared breakfast for herself and her grandmother.
While busying herself, she heard a knock on the door.
She ran to open it and saw an unexpected guest – Qiao Haidong..
